Message | We'd like some clarification as to how doing this at the national level would be better than allowing local or État governments to handle this. |

Message | While we would be perfectly happy to allow the Etats to handle the subsidization of agriculture some Etats lean to the right, (as past elections have shown) and may very well choose not to subsidize agriculture. In effect we would various different policies across Alduria. We believe that this would be counterproductive. Ideally we would be able to trust the Etats to do what is best fro the every day Aldurian citizen, but we don't believe that we can this time. |

Message | To assume that local governments can't manage their own industries is elitist. While we see the importance of a productive agricultural sector, we don't see that as anything the États can't handle independently. |

Message | Again, it isn't that we don't think that the Etats can't handle it, we simply fear that they won't. |

Message | We don't understand the LSL's objection to the subsidies being based on market demand. The law of supplies and demand are what determine prices after all. If their is a high demand and low supply then the costs of certain foods while rise. It is for this reason that we propose that we subsidize those crops which are in high demand, to keep their costs low. If their is a high demand for a crop, it is obviously a crop that people are in need of, so we want those prices to be low. |

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
