Message | Herr Präsident, As long as it isn't censorship, we definitely agree with Herr Siegel. If he would accept an amendment to the effect that the said rules would be set by an independent "Advertising Code Committee", so that government abuse and interference is ruled out, we would be glad to support such a proposal. Date | 14:41:09, February 10, 2014 CET | From | Liberale Volkspartei | To | Debating the Werbestandards, 3620 |
Message | Herr Präsident, grossly misleading advertisements are banned anyway since the publication of false information is outlawed through a different act. This bill, regardless if it grants government or any kind of independent commission powers to restrict the freedom of advertisement, is intolerable for us as Liberals, especially in combination with "stiff fines" as proposed by Herr Siegel, which would add up to an degree of economic authoritarianism that we are unwilling to endorse. Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, it is the responsibility of players to ensure the candidate boxes on their Party Overview screens are filled in with appropriate names. If a player is allotted seats in a Cabinet bill and has not filled in names for the relevant candidate position, then the program will automatically fill in the positions with names which might not necessarily be appropriate for the Cultural Protocols. |
