Bill: Equal Opportunities in the Workplace Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Religious Workers' Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 3623
Description[?]:
The culture in most workplaces makes it difficult for minorities and women to compete, often actively discriminating against these groups in hiring practices. It is no wonder then why we see such a discrepancy between the income of these groups and the societal norm. Setting up quotas for women and minorities won't do everything to prevent discriminatory hiring practices and overall societal prejudice, but it is at least a good step towards leveling the playing field. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Positive discrimination.
Old value:: No form of positive discrimination is permitted.
Current: The government does not regulate hiring policies.
Proposed: The government sets compulsory quotas for hiring women, minorities and marginalized groups.

Message | We disagree we see this bill as a distortion of market, private businesses are free to hire whoever they want and state can't force them to hire someone who might be unproductive. |
Date | 08:51:54, February 16, 2014 CET | From | Republican Party (GOP) | To | Debating the Equal Opportunities in the Workplace Act |
Message | We agree with the Conservative Party. We believe that this is not in the best interests of Aldurians because it is rewarding people for being a different race or gender. How can minorities and women earn respect in the market place if they are being treated differently than the rest of the people. |
