| Message | While we disagree strongly with the overtly political, divisive wording of a bill debating such a contentious issue to begin with, the LSP votes an enthusiastic YES to this bill. Besides the vagueness of the term "medical emergency," the LSP feels that not allowing women the right to choose whether or not to have children is ludicrous. A doctor cannot determine whether a woman is emotionally or financially ready to have children. Furthermore, our current laws ignore such factors as pregnancy at too early an age or pregnancy due to rape. While a woman theoretically would be physically able to have the chile, realistically, it would be a very undesirable situation. LSP: Because women are smart enough to make decisions about their own bodies and lives. |
