Description[?]:
"Recent legislation has given proof that the current government parties put narrow-minded reactionary ideology over the interests of the people, especially over the poorer sections of our society. While it is indeed only proper that the abhorrent practice of abortion should only be legal in case of medical emergencies, the total abolition funds for abortions in medical emergencies leaves this path open only to the well-off, while poor women are left to suffer and eventually to die, because they cannot afford a procedure that could save their lives. This bill seeks to overturn the cynical ban on funding medically necessary abortions that has recently been perpetrated by the Conservative Rich People's Party and the Authoritarian anti-Workers Party." Constança Ferreira, UDT/TDU spokesperson for Health and Social Services |

Message | "Minister Rogrigues, does that mean that the state would pay for emergency abortions for poor women? If that is the case, then why be so hypocritical about abolishing funds for abortions, which in any case are only allowed in medical emergencies? And if the state does not pay for emergency abortions for poor women, women will die because they can't afford this regrettably necessary procedure, and the Minister's remark would add insult to injury."
