Message | I know you position regarding the public services, but as I said many times before this: I think that if you lived in a country with a strong social state you would see that the free market economic rules doesn't apply in this cases. |

Message | No but my family did and they felt the consequences. Also being from Europe you know all to well the effects of overspending by the central gov't. Also the USA is a bigger social state then many think. It's not only the Federal gov't but the state gov't as well. When you add up all the welfare of both then you can see that per capita we spend ALOT on welfare. |

Message | Yes, the part of the government over spending is true. But you should see how much the US (in percentage of the GDP) spends in areas such as education, social support, health, culture, etc. and compare it to the EU average spending. And we have been cutting a lot this last few years, what is completely stupid because the US receipt for the crises is much better and you are having a much faster economical recovery. |

Message | Our government likes to lie about the numbers so never trust them. You can't forget to include state and local spending with the federal spending. |

Message | yes, but if you see the percentages there are big differences. And that is seen in the kind of public services that are offered. In Europe there are extensive unemployment subside, support to people with low income, free healthcare for everyone (and the public hospitals are much, much better than the private ones), public education in al levels that is much better than the private one (just go see the employment percentage of each ones), and this public education is practically free. Summing Europe is able to have extensive and free welfare state of top quality. Just go and check for example the best universities in Europe. Practically all of them are public and the majority is complete or partially free of any costs for the people. That is why we have high income and sales taxes, but it pays off, completely, even our right (which is nothing similar to the dominant right in US, ours is much more close to the Christian democracy ideals and not so much with the liberal ones). I always likes all these differences. Our political, economical and moral cultures are completely different. Take the right to bear any gun for example, in Europe only people with specific jobs or hunters are allowed to have weapons (and only the less mortal ones), it is required a license to have it (which requires extensive checks) and all guns are registered, the percentage of illegal guns is very low. |

Message | Yes and all that extensive "free" welfare has caused Europe to become the center of what could become the greatest economic collapse in world history. The majority of european countries have a national debt that is near or larger then their economies. How many nations in europe have had to cut services and increase taxes to try to fight the mounting debt they have? the percentage is very small around 8-10% we spend way more money. As for the schooling there are only a few european schools that compete with american private schools. We have more international students then anybody in the world and our private schools are superior. Our unemployment benefits last for roughly two years. |
