Message | We would be willing to support article 2, but not article 1 of this proposition. |
Date | 01:42:05, June 02, 2014 CET | From | Partido do Centro | To | Debating the Programme for the Protection of Civil Rights, 3674 |
Message | We believe these two issues are separate and should be voted separately. The PdC will proudly support legislation giving our citizens the freedom to dress in any way they want. We believe, however, that, if used prudently, the ability to disperse a group that presents a menace to public safety is an important power that should be in the hands of the State. |

Message | "The article about the citizen's right to assemble in public does not take away the right of the State to disperse groups that are a menace to public safety, it merely defines the condition for such a course of action and removes the arbitrary right of police commanders to order a dispersal if they BELIEVE that it may POTENTIALLY pose a risk to public safety. With such a far-reaching right, any police commander might disoerse any group simply they don't like the cause that people are protesting about." Rúben Mateus, UDT/TDU spokesperson for Internal Affairs |
Date | 08:51:04, June 02, 2014 CET | From | Conservative People's Party | To | Debating the Programme for the Protection of Civil Rights, 3674 |
Message | "The CPP is willing to start more debate about Article 2, as it has been suggested by the UDT in the lasts legislative terms". Tristão Ferreira, Chanceler of the República Democrática de Tukarali |
Date | 20:32:36, June 02, 2014 CET | From | Partido do Centro | To | Debating the Programme for the Protection of Civil Rights, 3674 |
Message | "Unfortunately, reality seldom permits a parliamentary session to be held before a tragedy happens. While we understand the UDT's concerns, we prefer to trust in the prudence, wisdom and restraint of our loyal police force, rather than to expose the country to anarchy." Carlos de la Cerda, spokesman for the PdC |
