Message | While we do think that article 1 would require more prolonged discussion, being a fundamental change to the structure of the state, we are willing to support this bill, especially for the chilling effects on the freedom of speech that laws on blasphemy were having. |
Date | 08:45:34, June 02, 2014 CET | From | Conservative People's Party | To | Debating the Programme for the Protection of the Freedom of Religion, 3674 |
Message | "The CPP can't support in any case Article 1. History tells us that Tukarese people have always been Kanzo, and it whould remain the official state religion. For practical purpose there will be no changes in Tukarese lives, but the CPP strongly believes that we can't ignore our culture and removing Kanzo as the official state religion is an insult to Tukarese identity". Carlo Lendoiro, CPP spokesman of Internal Affairs |
Date | 17:53:31, June 02, 2014 CET | From | União Democrática do Tukarali | To | Debating the Programme for the Protection of the Freedom of Religion, 3674 |
Message | "The claim that the people of Tukarali have always been Kanzo is erroneous. In fact, Kanzo was originally a political religion invented in 3024 by the then-dictator Shuya Nakagawa. While it has moved away from these origins as a politcal cult and has truly become the religion of the majority of the Tukarese people, the elevation of the Kanzo religion to the position of state religion that the CPP and the DWP have pushed through with their small majorities has been a slap in the face of all members of other religions since, highlighting the amount of disrespect that the government parties have consistently shown towards the cultural and religious diversity of the Tukarese people and democratic pluralism." Valter Serafim, UDT/TDU spokesperson for Justice |

Random quote: "A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks." - Thomas Jefferson |
