Bill: Governmental Salary Regulation Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Sozialistische Partei Dorviks

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 3679

Description[?]:

While there have been many changes in the governmental and parliamentary system proposed by the Orange Alliance, there has been one issue that they quietly and nicely ignored. But as stated in the party program of the Socialist Party, now that the political situation is stable, it is time to clear the way for smaller, less decadent salaries for parliamentary delegates and government employees.

MessageThe Orange Alliance have never been quiet on this matter and we totally disagree with the proposal put forward, let me explain why.

In order for a nation to run effectively you need people who understand the matters at hand. So for example, to ru the health system you want doctors and consultants, for the military you want retired military personnel and for the education system you want well seasoned headteachers. Now, if the wage within the public sector i.e the grotesquely large government bureaucracy is less than a wage that can be earn in the private sector then you will not attract the most effective candidates to run for office. When you come up against this probelm you have two options, I will let you guess which option the Socialist party is in favour of...

Option 1 - Make everybody work in the public sector by nationalising everything and making everyone earn a mediocre wage.

Option 2 - Allow people to do what they do best, flourish through competition. Make the market free and less restrained so that entrepeneurs and ideas can begin to work. In order to become a part of this competetive and effective market government employees must have good wages and incentives too.

Let's not be naive in thinking that people will give up a good lifestyle to "serve their country" for a sub-standard wage in a thankless job where you spend most of your day arguing with the opposition whilst the public deride you as a liar. Let's make politics attractive.

Random fact: The influence a bill has on elections decreases over time, until it eventually is no longer relevant. This can explain shifts in your party's position to the electorate and your visibility.
