Bill: PPFD Minority Government - 3682

Details

Submitted by[?]: Great National Republican Guard

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 3682

Description[?]:

The people have spoken in the most recent elections. A PPFD minority government should be possible, as long as this bill has support from at least 300 MPs.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We believe for legitimacy reasons, a coalition government is best. A coalition government representing 51% or more of this body.

MessageMr. Speaker,

A minority government is legitimate, as long as it gets the support of a majority of the Presidium.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We believe the PPFD should be the party presenting a cabinet bill as it is the largest party at the moment.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The Federalists are hypocrites. They made cabinet proposals when they were the smallest party. The law allows all parties to propose cabinet bills to the Presidium.

We are not saying that we expect our proposal to pass, and we are not saying that the PPFD may have other plans in mind, but the Federalists are being hypocritical.

we will support the will of the one-third of all voters. However we also believe a coalition would be more solid.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The GNRG acts and has acted as if they are the only legitimate party in this nation and have an authoritarian manner towards other parties. "if I decide to allow elections"....shows how little their own party respects republican democracy.

Given that in mind, We find it highly suspect as to the motives of the actions of GNRG, as it seems it's leader would prefer to not respect democracy and rule as princeps with the support of its members.

The most recent election has shown that the GNRG has lost the public mandate.

MessageMr Speaker,

Which is to say, our MPs and the citizens that voted for them do not trust the GNRG with such a delicate and intricate matter in the workings of democracy given past statements from its leader.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We have never acted as if we "are the only legitimate party in this nation" and we have a general authoritarian ideology in our approach to everything, not specifically our approach to other parties. This doesn't change the fact that the Federalists are hypocrites.

Regarding this bill specifically, how is the GNRG not respecting Democracy? We are encouraging the party that received the most votes to form a government, and we are offering a vote of confidence to that government.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I draw attention to this quote from the minutes of the debate on a bill....

"Tell them to go put it on their party's platform for the next election, if I decide to allow elections anyway."

Given this, we do not think it prudent.

That has absolutely nothing to do with this bill, or cabinet proposals.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Seeing as how not one person or official from the GNRG rebuked that statement, I think it is still very much relevant in how the GNRG and its members arbitrarily treat democracy, and why our party and its MPs are opposed.

If the GNRG wished to offer a vote of confidence, a resolution would have sufficed.

Date07:21:30, June 16, 2014 CET
From Great National Republican Guard
ToDebating the PPFD Minority Government - 3682
MessageMr. Speaker,

The Federalists' comments about the other bill still have nothing to do with this cabinet proposal. If they read the cabinet proposal, they will notice that all ministries are being proposed to be handed over to the PPFD. It is not a cabinet proposal that gives the GNRG any cabinet positions.

A simple resolution isn't a vote of confidence for a cabinet. We would need to vote in favour of this proposal, along with other MPs, for it to have the 300 neats that it requires for the cabinet bill to be passed.

If the cabinet already existed, we could have participated in a vote of confidence in a regular resolution. In discussion of a new cabinet, especially a proposal for a minority government, we would have to give our confidence here, on the cabinet bill itself. When will the Federalists stop speaking utter nonsense in the Presidium? They are an embarrassment to their constituents.

MessageMr. Speaker,

It is amusing how Landau says we are speaking utter nonsense, but has not addressed our main claim.

We do not trust a cabinet forming bill from the GNRG due to the cited remark and therefor we are opposed to this bill because we cannot trust such authoritarianism and arbitrariness when it comes to democracy.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We will not address the Federalists' "main claim" because it is irrelevant to this bill. What we said on another bill may have been authoritarian, but it has nothing to do with this bill, and it doesn't make this bill authoritarian. The Federalists were speaking utter nonsense when they said that we could give the vote of confidence in a simple resolution instead of on the cabinet bill. A vote of confidence wouldn't help the PPFD minority government to gain legitimacy if we simply made it in a separate resolution.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We would like the Presidium for their large vote of confidence in our party.
We have a solid team ready to rule Lodamun. Of course, because this is a minority cabinet,
we shall invest extra time in consulting the Presidium, to increase the democratic value of our actions.

I will take Vice Presidency as well. I do not believe that taking an "opposition" role would be beneficial to Lodamun, as it could cause instability.
