Message | Mr. Speaker -- While we appreciate the spirit of this treaty which calls for cooperation, the Steel and the Gray does not support giving up our autonomy over military matters to a larger oversight body, nor do we wish to be beholden to a larger body made up of the representatives of three nations for security and military matters. In particular, we call your attention to Article D, sections II and III: section II would require that Rutania be governed by the will of three "founding nations" of the CSCO; section III would require that Rutania be bound by any action taken by the Security Council. We do not believe that our military and security concerns must be dictated to by outside forces--if there was an "opt-out" option in Article D (like the one that appears in Article C) then we would support such a treaty. As written, however, we cannot. Sincerely, Gen. Fritz Reisen |

Message | Members of the Parliament, Rutania is a regional power in her own right and has engaged in international affairs before both with and without other parties in the process. The fact of the matter is that our country has an opportunity to become a world leader in the foreign policy arena with the passage of this treaty and our military will benefit greatly. Finally, I question the credentials of Mr. Reisen. Is he a real General in the armed forces or did he purchase said title on the internet? In my view, he has no standing in terms of foreign affairs and is just blowing hot air out of his hind quarters. Robert Abbott Minister of Foreign Affairs |
