Bill: Efficient Energy Infrastructure Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Telamon Social Democratic Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2165

Description[?]:

The current legislation creates an area in energy distribution where there exist neither efficient markets nor government monopoly.

To create private monopolies by legislation we are creating unhealthy incentives to the company maintaining the national energy grid. As the national energy grid by its very nature is a natural monopoly we should prevent its abuse in the pursuit of commercial profit. There is no reasonable means to create competing national energy grids so the only workable solution is to take the national power grid in democratic control.

However, when we look at the local level the calculation changes. As genuine competition, resulting in a functioning market mechanism and increased efficiency, is possible in energy provision in the local level we should define local energy provision as an area of private enterprise.
