We understand the political motivations here, but we are surprised that President Richter would so shamefully cast us aside after applauding our agendas and receiving our support.

MessageMadam Speaker,

It is not without serious deliberation that the LSP has decided to abandon the current cabinet and join the one proposed here today by the UPR. I feel it necessary to explain the reason behind this decision. First and foremost, we are alarmed by the militaristic nature of the Steel and the Gray party. The LSP has always preferred the course of moderation, something we no longer believe is the goal of the current Head of Government. Second, we have expressed in the past our opposition to the extreme positions we felt the Rapture Party espoused. Their departure from the political scene of Rutania causes us to look more fondly upon a coalition with the UPR. We understand that the nature of politics requires formations of governments that lean to one end of the political spectrum or the other. We are open to joining either side, as long as we feel it represents the most moderating influence. Today we see the proposed cabinet as being the better of the two options.

MessageMadam Speaker --

We find the ditherings of the LSP alarming and can only guess that they are driven by fear and complacency, despite the eloquent speech of MP Cates. And although we understand the need to compromise and to seek agreement on many social and cultural matters, we wonder just how moderate the LSP will be when terrorists blow up our children or when our glorious country becomes relegated into obscurity because our scientific research has fallen decades behind the rest of the known universe.

President Richter, if you care about your people -- as we know you do -- you will modify your cabinet proposal to reflect these contingencies.

Sincerely,
Adm HF Reich, Minster of Defence

Sven Neins, Minister of Science and Technology
