Bill: Diplomatic Immunity Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Conservative Monarchist Alliance

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 3724

Description[?]:

Lodamun's current lack of diplomatic immunity laws undermine her relations with foreign powers, because foreign governments are anxious about what might happen to the diplomats they send to us. A more reasonable law would be in the national interest.

MessageMr. Speaker,

If they do not break our laws, they have nothing to fear. Any country, that has a problem with the current government policy concerning diplomatic immunity, is one that intends to send a diplomat who will break our laws. Foreign countries had not complained to the government when my party was in power. We are not going to give diplomats special treatment. If they break the law, they will be held accountable for it.

It is not the right time for such a move. When we have more trade agreements and business expansion we would be willing to consider such a move.

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action.
