MessageI don't think there is a huge need for a massive state run company that will just waste money. We are an affluent nation I don't believe an inefficient state run operation would be able to survive among the cut and thrust of private competition when most people will likely own their own transport. It's a small market and this will just result in a loss to the tax payer for no economic benefit.

MessageTransportation can sometimes be too expensive to use.Which is why it is imperative that we provide a cheaper choice.Private companies may still operate and compete among themselves, but that competition isn't always a good thing.

MessageState owned trains are not inherently cheaper. There are many cases where state owned rail services have higher ticket prices than the private option. It could be more expensive as the state service has the government to bail them out. This creates a disincentive to be as efficient as a private service needs to be to stay in business.
