Bill: Exotic Animals Bill of 3740
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Progressives
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 3742
Description[?]:
Mr. Consul, We have discussed this issue before but the Liberal Progressives believe it is due time to bring this up again. It poses a great danger that exotic animals, whose numbers are dwindling rapidly, could be at risk when sold to people. Even with "regulation" - and we use that term very loosely - it is difficult to ascertain whether owners would actually care properly for such animals. The possibility of mistreatment is high, and we require exotic animals to reproduce and repopulate if we are to reverse the process of extinction. |

Message | Mr. Neutras Consul, The Government is not in favor of the bill. Exotic animal's numbers are at comfortable levels and you must remember that exotic animals are distributed far across the world. We may have a small number of exotic species but other nations may have higher amounts. The Government believes that our regulations for the exotic animals are satisfactory and have not contributed in any way to any decreasing levels of exotic animals. Exotic animals have stricter regulations to abide by, but currently are doing so. We do not see mistreatment being high because violating our regulations face large penalties of fines or even jail. Owners are told specifically, how to care for their exotic animal. Selucians should be able to have exotic animals and it is sometimes a better alternative than some of the conditions in which zoos keep their animals. No one should be worried about exotic animals becoming extinct. Cato D'Amato Minister of Environment and Tourism |
