Bill: Justice Reform
Details
Submitted by[?]: Federal Liberal Congress
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 3744
Description[?]:
Mr. Speaker, The Bloc Kregon wishes to address issues surrounding the Justice system in Lodamun. We would like to raise several points of debate: 1) Provincial courts should address issues of National responsibility, with the right to appeal to a national court with the blessing of the Department of Justice. We see this as a way to reduce the number for national courts all throughout Lodamun to deal with national issues. It saves the central government money, allows the Provinces a greater role in the administration of Justice and includes a system of checks and balances to ensure that national law is still enforced uniformly. 2) Capital Punishment should be left up to Provinces. Of course, the central government will have the right to bring any serious case before a National court and pursue the death penalty there. 3) As we propose that the death penalty should be left up to Provinces, the broadcasting of the death penalty should also be left up to provinces, we would be open to a clause allowing the central government to override this in the event of the death penalty being applied by the central government. Message | Mr. Speaker, As we support the current bill to reserve the death penalty for major crimes, we will not be addressing the legality of the death penalty in this bill. |
Date | 21:57:52, October 16, 2014 CET | From | Social Libermuns Party | To | Debating the Justice Reform |
Message | Mr. Speaker, Bloc Kregon's attempts to increase the power Province's have over themselves is noted, but the SLP does not typically subscribe to small government values. It is unlikely that we will vote yes, as we are happy with the current values of the law. ~ Rowan Argall SLP Leader |
