Due to the SP's Holiday, the Party of the Opposition was able to accomplish a reversal of the just and legitimate regulations on the over-exercise of Religion. Message | Just so we are clear- ALL curriculum in the Republic is regulated, to ensure that teachers do not teach such falsehoods as humans hunted dinosaurs to extinction and Terra is only 7500 years old. Religious schools are particularly interested in filling childrens' heads with a bunch of anti-fact which has nothing to do with historical fact nor does it have anything to do with the proper exercise of their religion. Worshipping God should have nothing to do with teaching kids mathematics, and it is a compromise to allow religious-run schools at all. We will not settle for a regulation-free religious school alongside regulated public schools. |

Message | Who is Stalin? Civil liberties are damaged by unchecked religion. Nothing separates society from its own interests like institutionalized superstition. That said- People should be allowed to worship or not as they please. We, as a state are under zero obligation to favor religion over non-religion. We merely must create an environment which offers equal opportunity to all. None of these provisions prevent any individual from practicing religion, and so they do not touch civil liberties. These laws merely regulate the activities of corporate groups, such as religious groups. Corporation are not individuals, entitled to individual civil liberties. Neither are religious associations. |

Message | Excuse me if I don't see it that way. What is the difference between an individual advertising on behalf of a religion, and a religion doing it on their own behalf? Either the regulation is unenforceable, or it's an undue restriction on civil rights. How is regulating an individual's clothing not a GROSS violation of their human rights? How is regulating how a parent wishes their child to be taught not a gross violation of their rights? I am on board with some school regulation, but considering your commentary on the bill, you seek to marginalize or criminalize any belief that does not march in lock-step with your own. Bigot. |

Message | Point 1. The religious institution is not entitled to free speech. Only Citizens are entitled to legal rights under the law. 1a. As to the law's enforceability, there has recently been a court case in Ananto District where a religion was found to be in gross violation of the law. The Judge found that it was the dogma of the religion to go out and proselytize to the population, the Leader of the Church who commanded his flock to obey those orders, and the Church set up a website to "spread the word of God". The Church was fined for violation of the law; no individual was held culpable for the violation. This decision was made in line with a long standing body of Republican Jurisprudence which has found against the Institution every single time. At the same time, adherents to any religion may freely stand in the public space, pass out all the literature that they printed with their own money, and talk to all the people they want, with the full protection of the law. You must be familiar, I assume with the tithe. Think of this as their contribution to their church, printing off religious materials at their own expense, because they believe that to be the right thing to do. We hold no malice toward those dedicated individuals. Point 2. While in the public service, it is against the law to demonstrate a preference for any sort of religious belief. We are a secular nation, absolutely divorced from the institution of religion. Therefore, wearing religious symbols is a gross violation of the law. If the Party of the Opposition has a problem with the law, we invite them to use the Office of the President to call a Constitutional Court, which is their Prerogative, and we shall argue the matter there, in the proper forum. Point 3: We do not seek to regulate the wish of a parent to have their children taught. We are regulating the content of that education. We know there are some superstitious ignoramuses in our Republic who have been eroneously informed that the planet is less than 8,000 years old, when we have ample evidence to the contrary. We know there are others out there who would like their children to believe that homosexuality is a mental illness, again, despite ample evidence to the contrary. We know there are those who would like their children to believe in the superiority of their own race, and that mixing with other cultures makes them somehow impure. Despite ample evidence to the contrary. We know that this is the impetus behind at least some of the home-schooling efforts in our Republic. We would therefore like to ensure that while parents are filling their childrens' heads full of this ridiculous nonsense, they are also teaching them some useful information as well. Minimum standards of education do not preclude the teaching of superstition or bigotry in the home, but at least the students won't be ignorant bigots. Work with us, not against us. And don't refer to us as bigots. We oppose closedmindedness in our society, and while we admit we are ideologues, we do have the confidence of the VAST majority of this nation. By calling our Party bigots, you call all those who have endorsed our Platform bigots as well. And were the shoe on the other foot, we would not return the favor to you. |
