Bill: Cabinet Proposal of June 3748

Details

Submitted by[?]: Central Democratic Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 3749

Description[?]:

Since the Uniao Democratica Tukarese has given us such
a nonsense reason for why we haven't formed a Government yet,
the only reason its because the Aykokusha Party didn't vote in anything yet, and if he had voted already for our Cabinet, we would already have a Government founded since 6 months ago.

Now I purpose a Cabinet without that active/inactive Aykokusha Party,
and with our CDP and the Union Socialista to make this Nation, a better place.

Francisco Dellaville, CDP National Leader

MessageOOC: One really has to admire the CDP's tenacity. However, do you realise that this proposal still requires the votes of the Aikokusha to win a majority? Or do you expect the UDT or the DWP to support a CDP/US minority government?

MessageJust correcting, that we're not the minority, we're the majority, because I don't think you did realize, but DWP is not what we call a 'big' party. Me and The US are the majority in the Government, just realize it..

MessageOOC: A cabinet proposal needs a majority in the National Assembly in order to be successful. The required majority, as long as the Aikokusha has not been deactivated, is at 63 seats. The CDP and the US together hold 56 seats. That's what is called a plurality, compared to the mumber of seats UDT and DWP hold combined, but in order to achieve the necessary majority you need another party voting with you: either the Aikokusha, if they became active again and are prepared to vote for apropsal they are not included in, or the UDT or DWP. I can't speak for the DWP, but given your attitude I'd be surprised if they were keen to support your minority government (that what cabinets that do not command a majority in parliament are called in parliamentary democracies).

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action.
