Message | By public funding are we to assume it is donated by members of the public? If so we will happily back this bill. |

Message | Actually, it means that the government will fund political campaigns. For instance, it would be established a threshold of donations. If the party did not achieve that threshold, the government would cover it and donate to that party. Either that or the government would donate a certain ammount of money to all campaigns, which is far more egalitarian. |

Message | We shall be voting against that bill in this case. A parties donation shows how popular it is or how much grassroots support it has. A party trailing at 1% shouldn't be given funding by the government nor should a party at 30% of the vote. |

Message | We believe that it is necessary, as there are certain agendas that go against main donors interests (corporations, religious institutions, banks) and thus lack investment. This bill offers a way to all interests to be represented, at the expenses of the State. It would promote electoral equality and give the chance to all plataforms and agendas to be displayed. Obviously, it would still have private funding, so more popular agendas would still persevere as major (the 30% of the vote party). However, the 1% of the vote party would have the chance to raise awareness to its causes and compete in a fairer election. Let's also remember how big donors financed parties and/or the party in charge of the government have huge advantages in the electoral campaign, making the status quo maintenance easy. This bill is a step to deconstructing that and promoting more democratic elections. |
