Message | What about those who cannot afford housing? This would leave them out in the cold- literally! We could never support such a measure. What's so wrong with the government providing housing to low-income families? Show some compassion! |
Date | 09:43:51, January 04, 2006 CET | From | Liberal-Progressive Union | To | Debating the Private Housing for Hobrazia |
Message | With our generous welfare system which provides cash payments as well as a seperate income for those adults who have no other means of support, the ability to pay for housing is within their ability. We already provide the income, paying for their housing is not the governments responsibility. |

Message | The government doesn't interfere with the ability of private residents to own, rent or sell their homes, all the current law does is guarantee that those people who are ill able to afford housing are guaranteed a home at a reasonable price (remember, they're not free but rented). We would also point out that our generous welfare system guarantees a subsistence income to those not supported by others, but only for a limited period. The subsistence income is worked out by the cost of government rent plus limited food stuffs, not changable rent charged by privateers. |

Message | A-hem. Seems like it's my fault if 'those not supported by others' get the profit of our 'generous welfare system' only for a limited period. But they can always get a job in that period. |

Message | Assuming there are jobs to get... |

Message | The main thrust of the above point, however, was not the time-frame, though that is troubling, but more the use of the word "generous" when describing our welfare system when we only provide a subsistence level of funding. |
