Bill: Radical Budget Reform

Details

Submitted by[?]: Unión Radical

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 3769

Description[?]:

Mr Speaker,

Please let us make a compromised Budget Reform where we don't hurt our economy and the citizens in Baltusia. This reform would eliminate the tax on essential goods as well as invest in the Health and Social Services sector. It will be greatly beneficial for this nation's economy as well for its citizens.

If something doesn't please you we can negotiate.

MessageMr. Speaker,

This budget will put us into debt by nearly, 10 Billion Baltusian Dollars! This new budget is insane! The Radicals need to understand that defence is very important to Baltusia and that our brave army, airforce and navy is already working on a really tight budget. The cuts to infastructure are also insane, we need to maintain good roadways inside Baltusia and lowering the current infastructure budget will plauge our nation into traffic nightmare. we urge fellow parties to oppose this.

MessageMr Speaker,

This is false. The cost of removing the tax on essential goods is 44,951,377,501 BLD while we already have a 23,002,698,162 BLD budget surplus and the budget cuts will give us 23,000,000,000 BLD. This means that we will have approximately a 1,000,000,000 budget surplus. We wish that the Conservatives would stop spreading lies now rather than later.

MessageMr Speaker,

Our Defence will even in this budget still be huge and we can easily defend ourselves against foreign threats. We do agree that a strong Defence is vital for Baltusia, but that won't be changed by this reform. We do also acknowledge that our national infrastructure is vital, but also this sector is rather large and cut be cut down in size.

The Defence sector is already tight on funding and this cannot be tightened.

MessageMr Speaker,

We firmly believe that the funding for the Health Department should be increased but we just would like to ask if it is wise to make drastic cuts from Infrastracture and Transport Department since as you mentioned it is vital to our country. If your proposal passes, the I&T Department will be decreased by 1/5 which is a huge amount of money.

MessageMr Speaker,

There are very few countries which have such a large Infrastructure and Transport sector so why shouldn't we be able to shrink it a bit? Nevertheless we need to cut some places to finance a tax reform.

We agree with our partner, this cut to infastructure is too high, we would also like to see an increase in health and education and I would like to say, stop cutting Defence!

We will not allow the party opposite to keep chiseling away the military budget. Like a frog in boiling water the defense spending will dwindle to extinction.

MessageMr Speaker,

Something must be done to turn our budget deficit into a budget surplus and let me tell you this: Taxing the people while giving corporations tax cuts is not the way to go. It is a sign of ignorance and inhumane treatment of our people.

MessageMr Speaker,

The PSO believes this is a reasonable reform and will utilise our budgetary surplus in a way that will benefit the weakest in society. We do however regret the depth of the infrastructure and defence cuts and would propose an increase in the top rate of income tax instead. For this bill, we will abstain from voting.

MessageMr Speaker,

We do absolutely not support a hike in the top tax rate since we believe we should not take more than half of anyone's wage. We instead would suggest a tax on corporations which the current government just abolished.
