Message"Our argument for this is that in smaller towns, children are expected to work in their family business or on the farm, and we want to allow the possibility of them getting paid if the community likes that. We should localize child labor because each community needs it to a different degree."

MessageWe support this bill only on the premise that child labour laws apply to what you describe above. We do believe that child labour laws should still exist to prevent child labour within factories or mines.

But if it is solely to help on family farms, a family-owned restaurant, or other family ventures then we do support the move.

Message"Correct. We are hoping that local areas will take responsibility and ban child labor in areas like big cities. Those areas do not need child labor, as adults need those jobs. In rural areas or small towns this may be necessary, though, and straight up banning it is a bit inconsiderate."
