Bill: Farm Localization Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Federal Green Party (FGP)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 3824
Description[?]:
Currently farm size is not regulated at all. This is certainly a decent policy to have at the national level. Our view, however, is that local governments ought to be able to craft agricultural policy in a way that they believe works best for them. The National Government should not prevent a local government from regulating farm sizes or imposing other regulations on agriculture. Let the states and local governments craft agricultural policy. Some areas might wish to cut down large farms and redistribute plots to smaller farms. If that is what the people in that community vote for then they should be able to have such reforms. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's policy concerning farm size.
Old value:: Farm size is not regulated.
Current: Farm size is not regulated.
Proposed: Farm size regulations are determined by local governments.

Message | It is very unfortunate to see the LPS voting against freedom. We should not impose our views on states when it comes to the issue of agriculture. Let the states freely decide on agricultural policy, especially since the national government is currently not doing so. |

Message | "Regulations are almost always bad, and we are willing to leave regulations to the local government when it is absolutely necessary. This is not a case where it is absolutely necessary. Small farms have already been broken down. We've tried this route before, and it didn't work. Deregulating farms is whats necessary, and local governments nor national governments have the right to restrict this freedom by redistributing property. What if I were to tell you that local governments should be able to take money from the rich and give it to the poor just because they're the local government and they can do what they want? Of course not. Liberty starts with the individual, and issues like murder, abortion, stealing, and public nudity should be handled on a local level, and issues like gay marriage and drugs shouldn't be regulated, but if a problem arises, localizing the issues would be appropriate. Obviously, issues like adultry, blasphemy, and killing yourself are personal issues, and they shouldn't be regulated one bit. Farms is in the category with drugs and gay marriage. Only regulate farm size if it becomes a problem because I don't know if you know this, but the local government can still restrict freedom. Because big farms are much less of a problem than big corporations, we vote no because why would we want to spend capital on something we do not need." ~Ted Johnson, Head Chairman of the LPS and Prime Minister |

Message | Actually we do support local governments taking money from the rich and giving it to the poor if they decide to do so. This is basically what happens when you tax the wealthy and give welfare, food stamps, and other benefits to the poor. All things that our party supports wholeheartedly. But we do see what you mean, I agree that things like gay rights, murder, etc. should not be issues left to local governments but rather individual liberties should allow gay rights and murder should never be permitted at any level. |

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current. |
