Currently, the number of seats is 105, we propose increasing this to a larger and rounder number at 350. We believe this so parties can get a more even and fair representation in parliament.

MessageMr. Speaker,

While in some ways the LIP support the principles behind this bill, in order to support the traditions of the Empire we must oppose this bill.

I yield.

MessageTradition? TRADITION? So you're saying tradition is more important than what is right and wrong, what is more democratic and what is best for our nation?

MessageMr. Speaker,

By maintaining tradition, the government will be more stable in both the long and the short term. Through stability, the people would be willing to place more trust in the government, seeing it as a steadfast pillar in a sea of turmoil. 105 is the number that the Empire as often returned to time and time again and is therefore the electoral tradition of the Empire.

I yield.

MessageHow will maintaining tradition keep the government more stable? And surely the people would appreciate the government moving on with the times a bit and 105 is a very small number, we think it would be less fair if such a small number of people were in government deciding what happens for the country. Also 105 is a very random number, if you're going for a number that small wouldn't just 100 make more sense?
