Voting deadline: June 3834
Description[?]:
Patres Conscripti, We have all seen what sectarian conflict can do to a nation and how religious disputes can end in either theocracy or civil war. Selucia must show herself above such petty conflicts. For that reason, we propose that both the Selucian Patriarchal Church and Religio Seluciana be recognized as official religions of the Imperium, owing to their long history in our nation and central role in our national character. This recognition is to be purely ceremonial, while banning all forms of discrimination on religious grounds and guaranteeing to all citizens the right to freely practice their religion or lack thereof. Random quote: "Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American...[T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people." - Tenche Coxe |
