MessageMr Speaker,

I think I've already made my position clear on this. Firstly, 70 is too high an age. Secondly, making the public pension system voluntary will make a farce out of it, as anybody with a reasonably secure income can then choose to opt-out, essentially leaving the remains to be a poor man's charity. That is the antithesis of social security. If people want to boost their retirement savings by other means, they are free to do so; but for the public side, the principle of universality has to apply.

I yield.
