Details

Submitted by[?]: Choice

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 3961

Description[?]:

This is the first main public debate between parties in Luthori. In the first of hopefully many debates is a debate between Choice and the Hosian Socialist Party, having a general debate.

(OOC: I decided to start creating debates between parties, inspired by the televised debates in the UK general election. In this one, can I please ask only myself and HSP post here, but I shall make more including all parties in future.)

Hosian Socialist Party, please begin.

MessageMy fellow countrymen. At the good will of the Choice Party, we have been invited here to debate with them the state of our great nation.

I urge you all to take a long hard look, and ask yourself what is the right way for Luthori? We may all have differing opinions which can override our sense of fair play in morality, but Choice has been a fair and honorable opponent thus far.

This does not mean, however, that I agree with them. They stand for individuality, they are the libertarians, the idealists, the individualists. In crafting policy that is inherently individualistic, they miss out on what is important--the group, the nation. We are a proud people, and we need to remain together.

The individual cannot stand on their own, they must be supported.

In our history there has been one constant, and that is Hosianism. We are all Hosians as we are a religious nation. We were founded on religion, it is religion which was kept us strong in times of war and has let us lead the world in industry in times of peace. It is religion which keeps us together and let's individuals do the great things that they do best.

Message"Ladies and gentlemen, the HSP are wrong on so many levels. Individualism is of the core importance of Luthori, everyone at the end of the day whether you like it or not is an individual, no one is the same, it's time we stopped having these "one size fits all" policies the HSP and other parties in this nation seem to endorse and begin giving the people the ability to forge their own lives. The best groups and teams are no crafted from people who are almost exactly the same as the rest of the team, but the best groups are forged from a wide range of individuals who as a collective have a vast range of skills, personalities and talents. With those quirks, a more diverse Luthori will offer a much better functioning team and will only make the nation a prouder place. If we continue to be stuck in the past while times move on, then this will be our undoing!

Every person also has the right to choose their own religions, yes a large proportion of people are devout Hosians, however religion should define how the country is run, religion is a personal thing. Everyone has the right to interpret it differently and act upon it differently, what isn't right though is "enforcing" it upon our people if they don't want it enforced."
