Message | We must send a message that Telamon supports those most in need and does not impose conditions on that support. |
Date | 16:56:35, May 10, 2015 CET | From | National Republican Party | To | Debating the International Development Aid Bill |
Message | What we must actually do is whatever benefits our people. We are not a wealthy nations by any stretch of the imaginations. Under the current policy, we do good and help ourselves at the same time. It's not as though we're demanding that they pay us back. Trade will be, in the long run, good for both nations involved and is a fair condition for us (as a country on the poorer side). If Telamon needed aid, then I'd gladly agree to trade rights. |

Message | If it were not for the NRP's gross military overspending and failure to appropriately tax the wealth then Telamon could be a wealthy nation. The tying of aid restricts the choice of the aid-receiving country about which countries to trade with and what to trade in. It is an exploitative practice which makes poor countries suffer for the benefit of rich businessmen in Telamon. |

Message | The receiving country has a choice - the choice of what aid to accept. If they want free aid from any of the richer countries who offer it, then they are free to accept it. But if they come looking for aid here, we will demand this small compensation. |

Message | The countries who require this aid do not, in reality, have the choice the NRP suggests. Indeed, as the saying goes, 'beggars can't be choosers'. |
Date | 17:20:56, May 10, 2015 CET | From | National Republican Party | To | Debating the International Development Aid Bill |
Message | There are 18 countries who supply "high levels of aid." We do not need to be one of them. |
