Bill: Public Transportation for the People
Details
Submitted by[?]: Linke Bewegung (Adlerist-Federist)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 3853
Description[?]:
We need to move towards public transportation and make this the favored method of transportation for our people. Offering free public transportation is a great way to achieve this. Indeed, we should make public transportation widely available to all who wish to use it. Charging for the service is an unnecessary disincentive. |

Old value:: Public transport is fully subsidised for people with low-income, with the remainder "user-pays".
Current: Public transport is fully subsidised for people with low-income, with the remainder "user-pays".

Message | It is not sustainable to move to a full subsidisation model. The problem with increasing subsidies is that it has a self-perpetuating effect: more subsidies means more incentives to use the service, which means more subsidies burdening the public purse. That's grossly inefficient and expensive. - Kathrin Brinkmann (transport spokesperson) |

Message | That's exactly the point! We want more people to use the services so that we can see a beneficial result on our environment. Glad you recognize that this will incentivize public transportation. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
