Description[?]:

In accordance with the rules laid out by Moderation, the realms and territories which currently compose the Republic of Hulstria, in game, shall be defined by the following:

~Brief Pre-Game History~
Hulstria, after it was colonized, was heavily populated by settlers from Luthori and Dundorf. Their values and traditions were formed into the culture of today. Prior to colonization Hulstria was occupied by the Empire of Gao-Soto, a federation of feudal Gao Showa clans that were defeated and pushed out of north-west Dovani by the Luthori army during their colonization process. There remains a significant concentration of Gao Showa people in Hulstria though they are located mainly in the south in Hilgar, which borders Sekowo, and in the east in Mitrania.

~A brief primer on in-game history~
After a long period of generally Hulstrian rule in which the country was known as Greater Hulstria, Gao-Showa nationalists lobbied for a restoration of Gao-Soto and succeeded in the form of a dual monarchy. Quickly, the Crowns were separated between the Gao-Showa Okatori Clan, who previously ruled Sekowo and the Hulstrian Rothingren-Traugotts. This settlement was unstable, however, and in the ensuing political collapse, National Bolshevists and Cheng Socialists founded a dictatorial regime known as the North Dovani Union.

The ensuing 5 years, in which a united opposition known as the 15th of September Movement led a peaceful revolution known as the September Revolution, have brought the Hulstrian and Kunihito groups ever closer together. After the revolution succeeded in overthrowing the regime, the Imperial Crownlands were restored in a form that would promote national cohesion. The idea of a pluralist Hulstria and Gao-Soto took hold, and has since become a sort of "founding myth", and tensions between Hulstrians and Kunihito have since subsided to an all-time low.

~Culture~
The culture of Hulstria and Gao-Soto is based on a theoretical/alternate Austria-Hungary, where Hungary is replaced by a Japanese culture which pre-existed in the area, whereas the Hulstrians are settlers who rebelled in a manner similar to the USA against Luthori rule and installed a monarchy. Although previously conservative and traditional in a pre-war fashion, since the September Revolution Hulstria and Gao-Soto has evolved, with the Hulstrians now representing a mix between modern German and Austrian culture (although with a strongly monarchist bend) and the Kunihito now representing a modern Japanese culture. A significant joint cultural heritage and shared national identity is beginning to develop, emphasising the post-Septembrist ideal of pluralism, although both groups are inherently proud of their own cultural distinctiveness.

Random fact: "Treaty-locking", or ratifiying treaties that completely or nearly completely forbid any proposals to change laws, is not allowed. Amongst other possible sanctions, Moderation reserves the discretion to delete treaties and/or subject parties to a seat reset if this is necessary in order to reverse a treaty-lock situation.
