We recognize the need for local governments to set regulations and laws regarding fireworks. Some localities might wish to limit who can buy fireworks or when fireworks can be used. This should be permissible for them to do. |

Message | Our interpretation is that the current laws do not prevent local governments from regulating the use of fireworks. Therefore, the only question is whether local governments should also regulate their sale. We say they should not. A patchwork of different laws regarding which fireworks can be sold under what circumstances will create a regulatory minefield for producers, retailers and consumers alike. - Sebastian Heldt (industry spokesperson) |
