Bill: Likatonians for Likatonian companies
Details
Submitted by[?]: Likaton Fascist Front
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2171
Description[?]:
PSS has taken the wrong position on this issue in the past, and we seek to make amends. We feel that companies should be funded by Likatonian capital. This rules out possible blackmail by foriegn powers, and also consolidates our defence priorities. (As we beleive the AAS has asked in the past why we should be responsible for defending a power station that is not owned by Likatonians - our apologies if we have miss-attributed this observation, but the point stands). Removal of foriegn capital will allow ordinary Likatonians to invest in venture in their own country. |

Message | We oppose, by restricting ourselves from the foreign capital market we are slowing growth in our economy and funding out international competitors. Money will flow to the most profitable investments; we need to make ours those investments. |
Date | 14:21:42, January 10, 2006 CET | From | Conservative Liberal Party | To | Debating the Likatonians for Likatonian companies |
Message | Foreign nations and foreign companies are not one and the same, therefore we fail to see how we could possibly be blackmailed by foreign powers, and even if we were we have the option of nationalisation of foreign investors assets within Likatonia. |
Date | 15:31:06, January 10, 2006 CET | From | Commonwealth Workers Army | To | Debating the Likatonians for Likatonian companies |
Message | The AAS is moved to support. Any money that is coming in DIRECT from overseas, can be viewed as a National Security risk, by placing potential risks in our markets and services, and by introducing divided loyalties. We must guarantee the sovereignty of our industry. Currently, there are other options, if this bill were to pass. We do not wish other nations to 'own' our industry, but our law still allows Lodamun to build Lodamese industries on our soil, for example. And, when you pair such a concept (Lodamun pays the start-up costs, but most of the 'supply' and 'energy' demands are going to be met in-nation), with our Corporation Tax (we have 0% corporation taxation... making Likatonia VERY appealing to overseas investors) - you have a proposal that is win-win for Likatonia. Indeed... GOOD business plans in this nation, will see Likatonian investors buying majority shares in foreign companies built on our own soil... giving us a controlling interest, and source of revenue, from foreign investments. |

Message | JLP is intrigued by the AAS argument, but since most of our party hold to capitalist beliefs, we must oppose this proposal. |
Date | 23:17:00, January 10, 2006 CET | From | Commonwealth Workers Army | To | Debating the Likatonians for Likatonian companies |
Message | Actually - this is the thinking of one of the more libertarian sections of the AAS... and it is certainly capitalistic... however, it is a form of 'nationalist capitalism' perhaps... since the endeavour seems to be entirely about generating and maintaining internal wealth... preferably with the addition of foreign capital, but not control. Think of it as pro-libertarian within Likatonia... but restrictive to outsiders. |
