MessageOOC: The game is very unclear about the implications of retirement and retirement age. Should we assume that people are forced to retire once retirement is reached? Should we assume that people don't quality for old-age pension / support until retirement age is reached? Should we assume both or neither?

The PC will vote against this proposal for the sake of preserving the status quo, seeing as this piece of legislation is extremely flawed. We urge all other parties to do the same and refrain from shamelessly exploiting this flawed piece of legislation.

MessageOOC I would have assumed that people don't qualify for old-age pensions until the retirement age is reached. They may, I also assume, qualify for a private pension before this age but not for the state-run scheme. I don't know whether people are forced to retire once the age is reached. However, for us, the bigger problems are these: what is life expectancy in our nation, and what is the proportion of the population who are over 70? Without answers to these sorts of questions, we can't sensibly specify a retirement age. The game has a year of 2169, but we are not sure how much we can read into that, if anything. Looking at western democracies in the present period and in the next 20 years, 70 would be too high in our view.
