While allowing for ample financial penalties, this bill directs the Minister of Health and Social Services to establish the Medical Malpractice Oversight Committee(MMOC), which shall be chiefly responsible for reviewing and deciding on exclusively civil matters concerning issues where malpractice has been alleged. The Minister shall be responsible for communicating with the Counsel if additional staff and funding is required to ensure fair and timely review is allowed for each case presented. The MMOC shall not make criminal judges. Those shall be reserved to the systems of our nation's courts. |
