MessageMr. Speaker,

we understand that the reform concerning the use of landmines is indeed small, but yet we would like to keep it the way it is. Leaving the decision up to the military creates a last barrier before these weapons are being used. Allowing them could create a situation where landmines are being misused or even become a hazard for the civil population.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We believe that although war may be inevitable, we must exert our military strength with dignity, not with barbarity. Land mines, biological weapons, and chemical weapons, though prioritized for military targets, almost always cause civilian harm and collateral damage, and it is simply inhumane to forgo international standards when dealing with prisoners of war.

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action.
