Bill: Diplomatic Immunity Reforms 3888

Details

Submitted by[?]: Choice

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 3888

Description[?]:

Currently, foreign diplomats are given full diplomatic immunity and are protected from arrests, prosecution and civil lawsuits. Despite us strongly wanting to completely abolish diplomatic immunity, the current positions and seat numbers of each party mean that won't pass. Instead we offer a pragmatic compromise, we propose that diplomats can be exempt from prosecution for criminal acts but not from civil lawsuits, but may still be expelled because of criminal acts. This is fairer for the people of Hutori and works within their best interests.

It is getting tiresome that our honourable colleagues from the Opposition keep bringing these proposals forward. If they have an issue without foreign policies then allow them to come forward directly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs so we can speak instead of constantly pushing issues into Parliament they know will fail.

My party has proposed completely ridding diplomatic immunity before, we thus decided to push forward a compromise that meets in the middle of what each party wants.

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current.
