Message | We can only guess that this is some kind of odd trick (or perhaps merely a mistake), given how consistently and repeatedly the proposing party has advocated for Frankenfoods in the past. Nevertheless, KPJP's position remains the same as before; we're certainly opposed to any actual intentional _use_ of Frankenfoods, yet at the same time (provided that the above is followed) we're in favour of research into the field -- for _defensive_ purposes, in order to enhance our nation's ability to clean up the inadvertent intrusion of such genetic manipulation, such as if some gets carried by wind or water across our national border. As this bill would thus be changing from our most-preferred position on this issue (the current law), to our second-most-preferred, we'll be voting against. |

Message | The idea that genetically modified foods are "Frankenfoods" is ludicrous. They have been proven to be medically safe for consumption. Allowing the producing and sale of GMOs would dramatically lower price levels and raise output, alleviating food shortages and hunger poverty. |
