Bill: Torture Reforms 3894
Details
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 3895
Description[?]:
Currently, the use of torture for obtaining information is never allowed. However we strongly believe that we should change this to suspects can only be tortured under grave emergencies where the information is vital. This would save numerous lives. Why should we place the rights of a criminal who is withholding information that is endangering people's lives over the rights and lives of innocent victims? Torture should be used only as a last resort and only when the information being withheld is absolutely vital to saving people's lives. We shouldn't apply it too often but we should have the option there as a very last resort. Because of our current laws on the matter, innocent people have died because our government is prohibiting the torture of some dangerous people withholding life saving information. |
