Message | We approve of article 2, and would consider article 3. Article 1 is an unneeded invasion of personal liberty. You are innocent until proven guilty and if you are innocent, then the government has no right to access your DNA without approval from that person. Article 4 will lower the quality of legal defense and would reqire taxpayers to pay for attorneys for people who are perfectly capable of providing their own defense. Also this will remove a deterrant to commiting crimes. People are more likely to avoid commiting crimes if they know that they will have to pay for their own defense. |

Message | If legal defense will be of a "lower quality" as you claim, then people would avoid committing crimes due to a higher risk of getting convicted, following your argument as you have presented it. Proper legal defense is not a privilege, but a personal right in society where laws govern the masses, a circumstance which is unavoidable lest we descend into the Palaeolithic. Reanalyze the relationships between Articles 1, 2, and 4 with Article 3, and you will perhaps understand the cohesion of the bill. |
