Bill: Shops and DWC Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Freedom Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 3905
Description[?]:
An act of Parliament reforming the labor laws and expanding workers rights while still protecting unions and workers who choose to exercise their right to join one. Closed Shops: places of employment where only members of a specific union are allowed to work. Union Shops: places of employment where non-union workers can be employed but must join a union after a period of time. Agency Shops: places of employment where non-union workers can be employed but they must pay a fee to maintain a worker's union. Furthermore, there is no reason the government should be dictating a managerial structure for industry. This should be decided by the members of the industry, not by government bureaucrats. DWCs can and should remain operative only where they are considered the best managerial structure option by the heads of industry and the workers themselves. It's clear to the PPP that Closed Shops are an antiquated arrangement that strip every man and woman of the right to work where there is work available. This bill would eliminate Closed Shops, while allowing Union and Agency shops to continue to contribute and benefit workers everywhere. |
