Message | Herr President, I rise to pre-empt Herr Schausberger. Don't worry, Herr President, I am going to be my perfectly civil self. I rise to pre-empt not Herr Schausberger's policy of callously ending foreign aid, or the Foreign Minister himself, but his major argument to it. This bill shows Folkepartiet's alternative to promoting our trade interests - not over the backs of third-world countries, but through a very simple rule of thumb: we agree that no tariffs are better for both of us, and therefore if you don't impose tariffs on us, we won't impose tariffs on you. The best thing about it is that it doesn't cost as much as a kroner to us, whereas Herr Schausberger would like very much to use the foreign aid budget to buy trade rights. I give you this bill: it's more cost-efficient and more importantly, it is morally sound as a way to promote free trade. I commend it to the House. Message | Mr Speaker, I am delighted to find myself effectively agreeing with the hon. lady on the beneficial effect of free trade. But I do not see this proposal as an alternative to the fair and economically sound aid-for-trade-scheme we remain committed to. I see it as a supplementary measure that will greatly assist the effective realization of the aforementioned policy once we get to abolish the legal restrictions that prevent us from acting. Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play". |
