Message | Mr Speaker, this bill is problematic in many ways and might wreak great havoc on our rural communities. Local farmers supported at the Fylke level might be denied support because they use conventional farming techniques while large-scale agribusiness, who can easily change their methods of production, might exploit Article 1 in order to qualify for subsidies. Article 2 undermines economic security for farmers because it gives rise to a real prospect of expropriation. Besides, modern farms cannot simply be "broken up" arbitrarily because the capital attached to them in the form of machines and facilities cannot be divided and distributed in many case due to technical reasons. Finally, article 3 is way over the top and will basically outlaw modern farming as we know it in Kazulia, lowering output and increasing prices for consumers by making their operations more costly for farmers. This bill must be stopped in the interest of Kazulian agriculture and the economy as a whole. Hannah Hermansen (FV-Agatha) FV Parliamentary Leader |
