Bill: Income tax proposal of November 3928
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Freedom Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 3930
Description[?]:
The National Freedom Party propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Federal Republic of Beluzia. The NFP stands firm against the current system of a flat tax that disadvantages those worst among us and treats with too much difference those who have gained most from society and in turn should contributed the most as well. The proposed progressive tax system is designed so that there are nine simple tax brackets which treat each individual's tax burden in accordance with that individual's ability to provide for himself, offsetting lower brackets for lower income citizens with higher brackets for higher income individuals. Furthermore, all sales tax are a disincentive to consume, and in turn should be done away with. Any idea that luxury sales tax are the means by which governments can guarantee that higher income individuals pay their fair share are already addressed in the progressive tax structure we've devised. Doing away with the sales tax will not affect our government's ability to keep a surplus and will in fact also spur the economy as more people are able to buy more with less. The NFP also accepts that a complete abolition of corporate taxation, one of our main fiscal goals, is impossible in the present political environment, and therefore asks the other parties to agree to a compromise to lower the tax by two thirds, but still keep it. |

Message | We agree with Article 1 (abolishing the sales tax), but we do not agree with the changes in the other articles as we believe in a luxury sales tax and a corporate tax. The only exception is that we agree mostly with Article 4 and would be willing to vote for this bill if Article 2 and 3 (changes to corporate and luxury goods) are removed. |

Message | Would the BCR agree with a complete elimination of the sales tax on essential goods? We will leave the corporate tax rate and the luxury goods tax if you pledge support for the progressive tax rate that will by itself be more than enough to fund the proposed budget. |

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, it is the responsibility of players to ensure the candidate boxes on their Party Overview screens are filled in with appropriate names. If a player is allotted seats in a Cabinet bill and has not filled in names for the relevant candidate position, then the program will automatically fill in the positions with names which might not necessarily be appropriate for the Cultural Protocols. |
