Energy is currently provided by private companies which are not subject to any special regulations. However we strongly believe that the prices they charge should be regulated to ensure that they are not extortionate and affordable for ordinary people.

MessageMr Speaker,

The members of Choice like to put all these regulations on things, however may we be told how government will keep on top of this and how it will fund it.

These regulations are in place to ensure that hardworking people are not "ripped off" by companies already making large profits. This bill regulated the PRICES they are charging, this won't even cost out government, in fact this helps the economy as hardworking people will have more money remaining and can spend more money on more luxuries thus boosting our economy, plus the most vulnerable in our society will be able to affordably access energy, which is a necessity of modern day life, it's not even a luxury.
