Bill: Constitutional Amendment of 3931

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal Party of Davostan

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 3932

Description[?]:

Prologue:
With the ever changing and diversifying senate. We'd like to propose an amendment to the following Constitutional law.

"...vice-Presidency. This position must belong, by convention, to the same party as the President is from"

We'd like to propose removing this line in the constitution and replacing it with,

"vice-Presidency. This position may belong, by convention, to any recognised party in the Federal Republic of Davostan, Federal Senate that can command the respect of the Senate."

This change will mean that the Head of Government seat will be chaired by the party that senate votes for, despite which party the President resides in.

MessageI suppose I can support this, but I don't like how it will be implemented. The voting should be proportional to seats I think rather than one vote per party as that way stops myself being swamped by the right-wing coalition who may not even the majority of seats.

MessageI agree with the Co Op party. Voting should be proportional to seats.

MessageIf the Co-Op stated their reasoning to vote no before, we'd have changed it...

But then that goes back to the previous version, where the largest party gets the position, which doesn't aid anyone. This amendment states that the party or person who can command the respect of the Senate is deemed worthy to be given HoG.

MessageLargest party doesn't necessarily control the respect of the senate. If votes are proportional it prevents small parties from dominating by sheer number of parties.
