Bill: Established Church Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Factio Hosia
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 3941
Description[?]:
In recognition of the fact that the majority of Selucians are Hosian and that Selucia has a great Hosian tradition and is the seat of the Aurorian Patriarchal Church, we propose the Aurorian Patriarchal Church should be recognised as the official state religion. People should be free to put forward arguments against the APC, but a blasphemy law should require them to do so in a respectful rather than a scurrilous manner. Those who wish to continue to follow others faiths or no faiths should, of course, be free to do so. Forcing religious adherence upon people against their will is not an APC doctrine. Tycho Pertinax (Chairman of the Factio Hosia) |

Message | Mr Speaker, We agree with the three latter articles and are willing to compromise on the first, as long as it is assures the church is not too heavily controlled by the government so that a rogue party won't force them to do something their uncomfortable with. |
Date | 14:38:14, November 20, 2015 CET | From | Factio Liberalis | To | Debating the Established Church Act |
Message | Mr Speaker, We cannot and will not vote for this bill, as many are aware we are an extremely secular party and believe in the separation of Church and state. Many of our Senators including myself are religious, most of us being from the Aurorian Patriarchal Church. We believe that creating an established Church will isolate those who do not follow that religion, and a Blasphemy Act will limit freedom of speech. Felix Antonius Internal Affairs Spokesperson, FL |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We can assure the FM-C that under these proposals, the Aurorian Patriarchal Church in Selucia will retain full independence from the government. It will simply be recognised as being the official national church. Tycho Pertinax (Chairman of the Factio Hosia) |

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there. |
