Bill: Early Election/Vote of No Confidence

Details

Submitted by[?]: Lodamese Social Democratic Party (LSDP)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill requests an early election. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline. Elections will be held immediately if the bill passes.

Voting deadline: August 3941

Description[?]:

The LSDP believes that the ruling party, the LRP, has shown a sufficient lack of competence in managing the economy to justify an early election. We believe that the LRP has mislead the people, claiming to advocate liberal economics despite attempting to raise government expenditure across all departments to levels which would bankrupt the nation. Their lack of economic understanding and misrepresentation of their party platform clearly show them as unfit to govern. The LSDP calls for a vote of no confidence and early elections.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The socialists have nothing better to contribute to Lodamun it seems than to want to overthrow a working government. Every nation in the whole terra would have a problem passing a budget with as many diverse view points as Lodamun has. This is great! This is democracy in working! I would only ask the socialists one thing, what have you don't that is constructive to Lodamun and the workers, because they obviously agree with us more than they agree with you.

It is really a shame for the social democrats to undermine our democracy. And to use me is a new low for them. That have not even provided a solution yet want to blame me. This is just a grab for power. I ask the social democrats to accept democracy and be part of Lodamun and be part of the democratic process. And to give constructive opinions that will help the state. If they have no constructive options we ask all the social democrats to resign with immediate effect.

MessageMr. Speaker,

If the Honorable Members have such confidence that their irresponsible policies are what is right for the nation, and that they have the support of the Lodamese people, then they should have no problem agreeing to an early election and receiving a mandate from the people for their fiscal incompetence. The Lodamese Constitution allows for the introduction of early election bills, and they are a vital way to allow the people to replace governments that they feel have misrepresented them or acted in a way that endangers the security or well being of the nation. Far from undermining our democracy, the opportunity to re-evaluate a misguided government such as this strengthens our democracy, and makes it easier for the people of our great nation to make themselves heard. The only way the LRP can accuse us of making a "grab for power" is if they are certain that, were an early election to be held, they would be voted out of government and that the LSDP would gain seats. We are confident that this would be the case, but perhaps that is why the LRP is so reluctant to let the people speak on their failed government.

MessageMr. Speaker,

for the record, NWL isn't in favor of early elections. We believe this is not what the citizens want. On the other hand, we have to agree with Mr. Van Aller. Any party can ask for early elections, and the decision will be made on a democratic basis.
We will await the decision of the other parties to confirm or retreat our vote.

I respect the NWL view on this, we are not in favor of an early election although I do acknowledge the right of parties to call upon early elections. There's is an elected government in place, and we shouldn't have to call upon elections for every disagreement that takes place in parliament. The people have spoken and I would like the people's will to remain. The coalition is a strong coalition. I hope the coalition does not fall apart due to opposition parties disagreeing with a budget bill. The LSDP has not even suggested a better option? And according to them this is why this early election was called. I would urge of the prime minister has no confidence in the coalition, he make it known to me immediately.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I would like the President to know that we voted against re-elections. We only stated that we might reconsider if the people wanted new elections. Up to now, there is no sign whatsoever. As Prime Minister, I fully support this coalition, eventhough the reigning parties have their issues every once in a while. If it would have been otherwise, the President already would have received my letter of resignation...
