Message | Mr. Speaker, What is the point of the Finance Ministry if an opposition party thinks that it can credibly propose tax reforms? |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We have proposed a set of tax reforms, and it is for the legislature to decide how credible they are. We believe they are credible, and we recommend they be accepted. Mikelis Skriveris Leader of the Liberālā Savienība |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I ask again but in a more simple way: why does Liberal seek to undermine government ministries which they do not control? Regarding the proposed tax reform, this hits the middle-class enormously. While we think these higher-paid groups should pay a fairer share doubling the income tax for any group is wishful thinking and in this case rather unfair. The actual Finance Minister will set to work on a tax reform plan which will instead focus on reducing tax for the poor and increasing taxes on the super-rich. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We have no intention of undermining the Finance Ministry, or indeed the government generally. In fact, when this government came to power, we went out of our way to offer it our best wishes. What we are doing is proposing the changes we believe are necessary to make our tax system fairer and more effective. Our aim is to raise more taxes for public services, and to do this in a fair way. As elected representatives of the people, we are perfectly entitled to do this. Of course, it is for the KR and other parties to decide what they think of our proposals and whether to support them or not. Mikelis Skriveris Leader of the Liberālā Savienība |

Message | OOC: My point is that proposing taxation bills is under the 'cabinet' link under the Minister of Finance heading. Your party doesn't control the Finance Ministry. |

Message | OOC: The game mechanics allow any party to propose a taxation bill, and in my experience of playing, it is the general convention that any party is at liberty to propose such a bill. But given the strong preference you have expressed, I would be happy to follow a convention that only the party controlling the Finance Minister should propose a taxation or spending bill. Provided the other players are happy with that, of course. |

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current. |
