Message | Mr. Speaker, We're against a head of government and will therefore vote no against this change of name, because it violates a previous agreement where we did vote yes. Nadine Spence Representative Ardinia Leader LP OOC: Correctly, but it was a compromise made between the then existing progressives and the still existing Libertarian Party, about how to reorganise some Administrative things. So provinces where called states, the parliament was called house of representatives and because the Progressives wanted a head of government, and the Libertarian Party didn't, it resulted in a compromise that is called the speaker of the house. Some history on the subject why we decided to call it Speaker of the house instead of Prime Minister. |

Message | OOC: I'm not sure where the merit in the current arrangement is. It is very unclear to me what the role of the President is, since they are nominally NOT the head of government, but if there IS no HoG, does this not make the President HoG? Does the President chair cabinet meetings? |

Message | OOC: It is irrelevant whether or not any RL gov has a speaker as a HOG. We can do whatever as long as it is realistic. The way I see it is that in this game the legislature is basically the gov as a whole, so whoever leads the legislature, which in this case is the speaker of the house, will basically be the HOG. It totally makes sense as speakers are elected by the house, not the people directly, just like the HOG in this game. |
